About Us

The Israel Athletics Association ("Association")  is a legally registered Association in Israel. In the beginning of the organization's establishment, it was called the "Athletics Committee", and from 1980 onwards the "Israel Athletics Association".  After the dissolution of the Israel Sports Federation, at the end of 1995, the Association became an independent Association.

 

The Israel Athletics Association maintains continuous relations with public institutions in Israel: the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Sports Authority, the Israel Olympic Committee, the High Performance Unit, local authorities, the Sports Association for Schools, the Unit for the Cultivation of Young Athletes, the School for Coaches at the Wingate Institute, physical education colleges and more.

 

The Israel Athletics Association is the body recognized by the State of Israel for the purpose of centralizing and managing the sport of Athletics in Israel, and as a result of this it is the Israeli sports entity that represents the country in international athletics entities, and maintains ongoing contact with: AIMS (the Association of Marathons and International Road Races), EA (European Athletics Federation), WA (World Athletics Federation) as well as with various associations around the world.

 

The purpose of the relationship is to gather and share information as much as possible about world athletics and what is happening in the various countries. The Association attaches great importance to the exchange of professional and administrative ideas and concepts between countries. As part of the connections with the various athletics federations, the Association succeeds in procuring participation for our athletes and coaches to participate in international competitions as well as training and further educational camps.

 

 

The Association maintains international cooperation on the following topics:

 

Participation of Israeli athletes in World and European championships

 

Participation of athletes in international invitational competitions

 

Holding international competitions in Israel

 

Participation in international competitions abroad

 

Inviting athletes from abroad to major competitions in Israel, including the Israel Open Championship

 

Inviting coaches from abroad for further training in Israel

 

Participation in the planning of the annual calendar of competitions in the world

 

Participation in international congresses

 

Inviting senior athletes to training camps in Israel

 

Collaborations with athletics associations throughout Europe

Athletics in Israel will be the basis for achieving the ultimate objectives of all sports in Israel.

 

The Athletics Association will always be committed to:

 

Providing a positive experience through sports, which develops physical awareness and love for athletics

 

Permanent and continuous international success in all international competitions

 

Providing opportunities for athletes to remain active and competitive at all stages of life.

 

 

Objectives:

 

Main Objectives:

Increasing the achievements of Israeli athletics in the international arena.

 

Increasing the number of athletes in the different age categories, within the structure of training centers and athletics clubs.

 

Increasing the number of children and youth involved in competitive athletics

.

 

Secondary Objectives:

 

Supporting and enhancing  the athletics clubs in professional, managerial and budgetary aspects.

 

Establishment of training centers.

 

Improving the quality of training.

 

Incentive for coaches for achievement.

 

Increasing the number of athletics facilities.

 

Organizing a minimum of 80 athletics competitions every year.
